You have a deadline. No coffee. And you're about two minutes away from a meltdown. It happens to the best of us. Instead of waiting for the stress to volcano, we suggest these quick tips to release your inner office zen.
1. Eat a Snack
While we should always be mindful of what we eat at the desk, we should also know that the connection between the brain and gut is HUGE, and you should never deprive yourself of food. Nothing is more stressful to the brain then feeling like it's out of fuel.
2. Go for a Walk
As the movie Legally Blond once informed us: "Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy." A simple walk around the office or a trip to the water cooler can do a lot.
3. Get an Office Plant
At Washington State University, a study found that people had a drop in blood pressure just by being around some green! Our nice guys :) would like to know if fake plants count… We think they do.
4. Listen to Music
Invest in some headphones and generate a track of songs. Any songs you like will help decrease the level of stress hormones.
5. Watch a Quick YouTube Video
Laughter is good for the soul, but use with caution. One YouTube video sometimes only leads to another!
