Securing Data Breaches in the Office

Technology is a part of everyone’s life, and it’s hard to manage. If you find your business encountering cyber threats during this time where the majority of your employees are working from home, here are a few tips to make your office securer.

Offer standardized cables

Take a look at the cords you are using. How many employees are using their computer to charge their personal phones? A big source of data breach can often be traced back to the cables your workers are using. Many newer cables, specifically the O.MG cable, have Wi-Fi transmitters that allow hackers to enter into your company’s data. A great way to solve this problem is by offering standardized wires.

Buy your printers or wipe them

Many companies divert the cost of printer by leasing them, but there’s a problem with this. Many leasing companies will not wipe data from the machine before installing it into a new home. To avoid transferring sensitivity data, it is recommended that you own your printer or, at the very least, have a data specialist wipe the printer before returning it. Another great tip is to have one printer in the office where sensitive data is store, transfer and printed. Equip this printer with security toner. Encourage at-home employees to save on their own printings by sending jobs to the office printer.

Train employees on cyber security

The first line of any security measures in your office are your employees. Teach them what to look for in emails. Make sure they are logging out of portals and locking computers. Hold meetings to talk about what should or should not be accessing on the web. The more knowledgeable your staff is, the safer you are.
