Over $421,500 Raised For Local Charities
Recycle for a Reason is Garvey's Office Products toner and electronics recycling program. Each quarter, we collect used toner cartridges, flattened cardboard boxes and used electronics that our customers want to recycle. We pool all of these items together to raise money for local charitable organizations and keep the unwanted items out of landfills. Individually the rebate on recycled cartridges and electronics is not much, but when accumulated over time, it can make a difference!
In order to accomplish this goal of raising money for charity, we have guidelines on what we can and cannot collect. To view the list of items we can pick up, click here. In order to keep this program viable and be able to raise fund for these local charities, we ask that we pick-up recycling when we are dropping off an office supply order to you.
As you may know, we use the program to raise funds for some wonderful local charities. In the past seventeen years, Garvey's has been able to raise over $421,500 for local charities and we hope to continue to grow this program.

During 1st quarter of 2024, Linda Conley presented The Children's Center of Cicero-Berwyn with a check on behalf of our Recycle for a Reason Program.
1st Quarter Recipient: The Children's Center of Cicero-Berwyn
During the 1st quarter of 2024, we collected empty toner cartridges and donated electronics for The Children's Center of Cicero-Berwyn. The mission of The Children's Center of Cicero-Berwyn is to partner with families and community and provide a strong educational foundation to prepare children for future success. The Children’s Center of Cicero Berwyn provides a nurturing, inclusive, developmentally appropriate atmosphere for children, while supporting parents and caregivers in their critical role as their child’s first teacher. They respect the child as a unique and special individual. They encourage families to help their children celebrate their culture, enjoy life, learn to accept themselves and others, and prepare them for academic success. All programs are bilingual (Spanish/English). They provide educational, play-based childcare, full and half day Head Start and Preschool for All classrooms and home-based, child development and parenting programs. 2nd Quarter Recipient: Aids Foundation Chicago
During the 2nd quarter of 2024, we will be collecting empty toner cartridges and donated electronics for AIDS Foundation Chicago (AFC). The mission of AFC is to mobilizes communities to create equity and justice for people living with and vulnerable to HIV or chronic conditions. In 1985, physicians, advocates and community members came together to form AFC to support the HIV community. More than 35 years later, AFC continues this critical lifesaving work to end the HIV epidemic and ensure everyone has a home in Chicago and beyond. All of AFC's programs support their mission and all who work for, or on behalf of, the organization understand and are loyal to that mission and purpose.
