As the holiday weekend approaches, we’d like to take the time to talk about our Food Drive Program and how you can help Greater Chicago Food Depository in its mission to end hunger. Hunger and food insecurity don’t discriminate. It affects people of all ages, races and genders. As we open our doors to be thankful this Thursday, keep in mind that there are many ways to give.
Hunger in Cook County
According to the Greater Chicago Food Depository website, "One in seven people in Cook County will experience food insecurity this year." Hunger is what you feel when you don’t have enough to eat. Food insecurity is the set of circumstance that prevent access to food.
How-To Host a Food Drive
The first way to give is by hosting a food drive right at your office. If you are a Nice Guys Customer, we can make this easy for you. Your driver can drop off food drive barrels or boxes and pick them up once your event is over. All you have to do is Register Your Food Drive and donate!
Drop-Off Items at Garvey’s
Feeling like a food drive is too big of event to handle? There is still a way to give. Monday – Friday during the work hours of 9-5 PM, we accept donations. This means any donations, customers and non-customers alike. Just drive to our Nice Guys Office and drop off your items. Keep in mind that the most needed items include peanut butter and canned goods!
