In the famous words of Office Space: Why does it say paper jam when there is no paper jam?! If your office’s copier or printer is constantly on the fritz, here are a few ways to make your life easier.
Stock the Correct Paper
Believe it or not, the #1 reason why your printer is jamming can be traced back to the quality of paper you are using. Low quality paper leaves paper dust on your printer rollers. This dust can then build up over time and block the machine from working efficiently.
Discourage Employees from Quick Fixes
When a paper stalls a machine, employees will instinctively try to rip the paper out. Unfortunately, this is probably one of the worst things you can do. Put up signage that informs employees to call for maintenance instead of trying to fix the issue themselves.
Add Printer Etiquette to Employee Onboarding
Loading paper incorrectly into a machine is also a constant culprit of paper jams. When you do an onboarding with an employee, make sure to demonstrate how to take care of the equipment, including loading paper.
